Vestmannaeyjar Golf Club is one of Iceland’s most unusual rounds: an 18-hole course cut through the old volcanic crater of Herjólfsdalur on Heimaey, with steep green slopes and the Atlantic never far from view. Golf began here in 1938, and the modern layout is short on the card but full of demanding angles, wind and volcanic terrain. The par-3 17th is the signature hole—a 133-metre forced carry across rock to a green guarded by bunkers and water behind—while the tight par-4 13th demands a tee shot to a narrow ledge before an uphill approach.
