Mexico · Course 1
Pacifico is the signature course at Punta Mita and one of the most recognizable golf experiences in Mexico. Jack Nicklaus's routing moves through tropical vegetation and along Banderas Bay, culminating in the famous Tail of the Whale: a par 3 with a green set on a natural rock outcrop in the Pacific.

Bahía provides a contrasting Jack Nicklaus round inside Punta Mita, moving through natural jungle terrain and along the bay. It is less dependent on one headline hole than Pacifico, with elevation changes, strategic bunkering and broad Pacific views carrying the round.

El Tigre is a full-scale championship test in Nuevo Vallarta, designed by the von Hagge, Smelek and Baril team. The layout brings water, deep bunkering, strong green complexes and a more conventional parkland-resort challenge to a destination better known for its coastal golf.

The Nicklaus Course at Vista Vallarta is set above Puerto Vallarta in the foothills of the Sierra Madre. Its elevation, ravines and long views over the jungle and bay make it a more dramatic inland counterweight to Punta Mita's tropical coastal courses.

Stay inside Punta Mita for the most seamless access to its private resort golf and beaches, or use Puerto Vallarta for a more urban hotel base with a quicker airport transfer. The right answer depends on the golf access you secure and how much city time your group wants.
Punta Mita's resort infrastructure is the main draw: private beach clubs, spa facilities, excellent restaurants and easy water access alongside high-level golf. Puerto Vallarta expands the trip with a marina, lively dining, nightlife and a much wider hotel selection.

Fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). Puerto Vallarta hotels are typically 15–30 minutes away, while Punta Mita is roughly 45–60 minutes north by private transfer, depending on traffic and your resort.
Stay in Punta Mita if the private-resort golf and a quiet luxury beach base are the priority. Stay in Puerto Vallarta if you want shorter airport transfers, more city dining and nightlife, or a broader range of hotels; many trips can blend both.
Five to seven nights is ideal. That allows three or four rounds, at least one full beach or boat day, and time to enjoy Puerto Vallarta rather than treating it only as an airport stop.
November through April is the most reliable dry-season window. May and early June can be attractive for quieter resorts and value, while summer and early fall are hotter and wetter.
Very easily. Beach clubs, spas, boating, fishing, restaurants, Puerto Vallarta's old town and the Malecón make this one of Mexico's best destinations for mixed groups.
