Lofoten Links is an 18-hole seaside course laid across rugged coastal ground on Gimsøy at 68 degrees north, above the Arctic Circle. Jeremy Turner’s par-71 design uses the Norwegian Sea, rocky shoreline and sandy beaches as natural strategic features, with 24-hour daylight allowing midnight-sun golf from mid-May through late July. The first six holes opened in 1998 and the complete 18-hole layout opened in July 2015.

Why visit

Lofoten Links turns a golf trip into an Arctic expedition. The par-71 course moves between rocky headlands, sandy beaches and open views of the Norwegian Sea, with fast-changing wind and light altering the strategy from one round to the next. From mid-May through late July, 24-hour daylight creates the rare chance to tee off late at night beneath the midnight sun. Staying at Lofoten Links Lodges keeps the course, Hov Beach, Restaurant Låven and outdoor activities close together. Two rounds make sense here, leaving time for the Hoven hike, horseback riding, a beach sauna or a longer drive through the islands.

Luxury Standard room, full luxury lodge or Deluxe Standard lodge

Nordic-style lodges near Hov Beach with north-facing views toward the Norwegian Sea. Luxury lodges contain three en-suite bedrooms for up to six guests plus a shared kitchen, living room, fireplace and terrace; larger deluxe configurations suit families and groups.

Getting there

Harstad/Narvik Airport, Evenes (EVE) is the resort’s recommended gateway for travelers carrying clubs, followed by a scenic drive of approximately 3 hours 22 minutes. Svolvær Airport (SVJ) is about 47 minutes away and Leknes Airport (LKN) about 50 minutes away, but both generally require connections on smaller aircraft. Rent a car or request the resort’s airport shuttle in advance; public transportation on Gimsøy is limited.
