Golf Trips in Spain

Three distinct golf regions—from Barcelona and Mallorca to championship Andalucía.

Spain — overview

Spain works because a golf trip can take three very different shapes without losing its sense of place: Barcelona and the Costa Brava for city and resort golf, Mallorca for an island stay near Palma, and the Costa del Sol for major championship courses and Andalucía beyond the fairways. JEL Golf Travel builds the right route around the way you want to travel.

What makes it special

Why play golf in Spain.

Spain lets a golf trip move between a major city, an island resort, and Andalucía's championship coast without repeating the same experience. The current JEL collection pairs Real Club de Golf El Prat and Camiral near Barcelona, three Arabella courses near Palma, and Finca Cortesin, La Hacienda Links, and Valderrama in the south. It is a strong choice for groups that want serious golf but do not want every day to feel like a resort-only itinerary.

Spain's current collection is deliberately focused. Barcelona & Costa Brava begins with a city night and Real Club de Golf El Prat before moving north to Camiral Golf, where the Tour and Stadium courses make a compact resort-golf finish. It is the natural choice for golfers who want Barcelona and Girona to matter as much as the tee sheet.

Mallorca is the easiest island version of the trip. Golf Son Vida, Son Muntaner, and Son Quint sit near Palma, creating three rounds without a string of long transfers. A stay at Castillo Hotel Son Vida leaves room for Palma's old town, a day on the water, and a drive into Valldemossa and the Tramuntana foothills.

The Costa del Sol gives the trip more championship weight. Finca Cortesin, La Hacienda Links, and Real Club Valderrama form a high-end three-round core between Marbella and Sotogrande, with Gibraltar and Ronda offering useful reasons to extend the stay. Together, the three destinations give Spain nine courses and three genuinely different travel experiences.

When to go, how to get there.

Best time to visit
Spring and fall are the most reliable windows across the current Spain destinations. Barcelona & Costa Brava and Mallorca are especially well suited to April–June and September–October, while Costa del Sol has a longer shoulder season from March–May and September–November.
Weather & climate
Spain is not one golf climate. The northern Mediterranean destinations are most comfortable in spring and fall, while Mallorca is best treated as a shoulder-season island trip. Costa del Sol is the warmer option, but summer heat can make afternoon golf less appealing.
Typical trip length
6–9 nights across two or three destinations
Getting there
Barcelona-El Prat is the gateway for Barcelona & Costa Brava, Palma de Mallorca serves Mallorca, and Málaga-Costa del Sol serves the southern coast. A rental car is useful in each destination, particularly for Girona, the Mallorca countryside, and the Costa del Sol's Gibraltar and Ronda side trips.

Off the course

Local culture in Spain.

The off-course side changes completely by destination. Barcelona and Girona bring architecture, markets, and late dinners; Mallorca adds Palma, sailing, and mountain villages; the Costa del Sol opens into Marbella, Gibraltar, and the wine country around Ronda. That range is Spain's advantage: the golf provides the structure, while each stop has its own reason to stay out after the round.

Frequently asked

Spain golf FAQs.

What are the best Spain golf destinations for a first trip?

Barcelona & Costa Brava, Mallorca, and the Costa del Sol are the three current JEL Golf Travel destinations in Spain. Barcelona & Costa Brava suits a city-and-resort trip, Mallorca is the island option near Palma, and the Costa del Sol is the strongest choice for championship golf around Marbella and Sotogrande.

When is the best time to play golf in Spain?

Spring and fall are the best shared windows for the current Spain destinations. Plan Barcelona & Costa Brava and Mallorca for April–June or September–October; Costa del Sol also works well in March–May and September–November.

How many days do you need for a Spain golf trip?

Allow six to nine nights to combine two or three destinations without turning the trip into a transfer schedule. A single destination can work as a four- to six-night stay with three rounds and time to experience the area beyond the course.

Which courses are included in JEL Golf Travel's Spain destinations?

The current Spain collection includes nine courses. They are Real Club de Golf El Prat, Camiral's Tour and Stadium courses, Golf Son Vida, Son Muntaner, Son Quint, Finca Cortesin, La Hacienda Links, and Real Club Valderrama.

Can you combine Barcelona, Mallorca, and Costa del Sol on one golf trip?

Yes, but it is best planned as a multi-stop trip rather than a rushed one-week itinerary. Barcelona and Mallorca make a natural northern and island combination, while the Costa del Sol adds a separate Andalucía leg for guests who want more championship golf.

Do I need a rental car for a Spain golf trip?

A rental car is useful in all three current destinations. It gives you flexibility around Girona and the Costa Brava, Mallorca's villages and coastline, and the Costa del Sol's side trips to Gibraltar and Ronda.
