Pacific Northwest
Coastal links, high-desert resort golf and Bend-area mountain views in one serious golf state.
Oregon gives golf groups two very different trips in one state: the walking-only links pilgrimage at Bandon Dunes and the high-desert resort circuit around Bend. Build the itinerary right and you can choose Pacific wind, firm turf, Cascade views, or a full week that connects both sides of the state.
Oregon stands out because it pairs one of golf’s great coastal links destinations with a completely different high-desert golf corridor around Bend. Bandon Dunes is the bucket-list draw, with walking golf, caddies, Pacific wind and multiple courses on one property. Juniper Preserve and Sunriver add mountain views, resort lodging and Central Oregon’s dry summer climate, giving groups a choice between pure golf immersion and a more flexible resort trip planned by JEL Golf Travel.
Bandon Dunes Golf Resort is the anchor of Oregon golf travel. Seven walking-focused courses sit above the Pacific, led by Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald and Sheep Ranch, with Bandon Preserve and Shorty’s adding short-course depth. The resort is remote, weather-shaped and built for groups that want golf to be the entire point of the trip.
Central Oregon changes the tone. Juniper Preserve brings Jack Nicklaus and Tom Fazio designs through lava rock, juniper forest and high-desert terrain outside Bend, while Sunriver Resort adds Crosswater, Meadows, Woodlands and Caldera Links just south of town. The golf feels wider, sunnier and more resort-driven than the coast.
The best Oregon itinerary depends on how much driving your group wants. A Bandon-only trip can fill four or five days without repetition, while a Bend-area trip works well for couples, families and groups that want golf plus breweries, hiking, fishing and vacation-home lodging. Combining the coast and Bend creates a bigger Oregon golf road trip with real contrast.

The Oregon destinations we plan the most — each with the courses, lodging and seasonality our concierge knows by heart.
These are the Oregon rounds we would build around first: three Bandon anchors for the coastal links experience, plus Crosswater for the Central Oregon resort side.

Oregon golf trips are shaped by place as much as scorecards. Bandon is quiet, coastal and golf-first, with evenings built around lodge dinners, fireplaces, caddie stories and early tee times. Bend brings a different rhythm: craft breweries, river trails, mountain drives, casual restaurants and outdoor days that make it easy to bring non-golfers or stretch the trip beyond 36-hole days.
The main Oregon golf destinations for a travel itinerary are Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Juniper Preserve and Sunriver Resort. Bandon is the bucket-list coastal links trip, while Juniper Preserve and Sunriver anchor the Bend and Central Oregon resort golf scene.
Most Oregon golf trips work best as 4 to 6 nights. A Bandon-only trip can fill 4 or 5 days because the resort has seven golf experiences, while a Central Oregon trip around Bend can be built as a long weekend or extended resort stay.
May through October is the best overall window for Oregon golf. Bandon Dunes is playable outside that window but can be wetter and windier, while Central Oregon is strongest in late spring, summer and early fall.
Yes. Bandon Dunes is remote enough and deep enough that it deserves its own itinerary, especially for groups that want to play Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, Old Macdonald, Sheep Ranch, Bandon Preserve and Shorty’s without rushing.
You can combine Bandon Dunes with Bend-area golf, but it becomes a true Oregon road trip. The reward is variety: coastal links golf at Bandon followed by high-desert resort golf at Juniper Preserve or Sunriver.
For Bandon Dunes, Southwest Oregon Regional Airport in North Bend is the closest useful airport. For Juniper Preserve and Sunriver, Redmond Municipal Airport near Bend is the most convenient. Portland, Eugene and Medford can also work depending on flight schedules and how much driving your group accepts.
