At Chamonix–Mont-Blanc

EUROPE
A country of distinct golf trips, built around the places and days that make the rounds matter more.
France is not one type of golf trip. Its regions invite different rhythms, landscapes and ways to spend the hours off the course. JEL Golf Travel’s France collection begins in Chamonix–Mont-Blanc, then will grow into a practical guide for building a France trip around the golf rather than treating golf as the whole trip.
France works for golfers who do not want every trip to look the same. It has the scale to support regional itineraries with very different personalities, while keeping golf connected to the food, culture, landscape and time off the course. Chamonix–Mont-Blanc is the first live example: Golf Club de Chamonix puts an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. round beneath the Mont Blanc massif, inside an Alpine trip that does not stop at the 18th green.
France rewards travelers who give the itinerary some room. The best version of the trip is rarely a race between tee times; it is a sequence of rounds, meals, drives, towns and days that feel different from one another. This is the country-level starting point for that planning.
Chamonix–Mont-Blanc is the first live destination in the collection. Golf Club de Chamonix, an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones Sr. course beneath the Mont Blanc massif, shows the kind of trip JEL is building: a strong round that belongs inside a much bigger travel experience.
As more France destinations are added, this page will help travelers compare regions and shape a route around the experience they want—whether that means mountains, cities, coast, food, culture or a longer multi-stop journey.

The France destinations we plan the most — each with the courses, lodging and seasonality our concierge knows by heart.
Chamonix is the first live France destination. This shortlist will expand as JEL adds new French golf regions and their defining courses.
The appeal of France is the space around the golf: unhurried meals, time in towns, landscape-driven travel and the sense that each stop can have its own character. In Chamonix, that means a mountain town and the Mont Blanc landscape; future JEL destinations will bring their own version of the same golf-plus-travel balance.
JEL’s current France destination is Chamonix–Mont-Blanc. The collection will expand with additional French golf regions, but Chamonix is the place to start today for an Alpine itinerary built around Golf Club de Chamonix.
Start by choosing the experience around the golf: mountains, cities, coast, food or a multi-stop route. France is better planned as a regional journey than as a generic one-base golf vacation, and JEL can shape the itinerary around the destinations currently available.
Five to eight nights gives a France golf trip enough room for golf and the travel between experiences. A shorter stay can work around one base; a longer trip is better suited to adding more than one region as the JEL France collection grows.
The best time varies by region. For Chamonix–Mont-Blanc, June through September is the practical golf season because the destination is defined by its Alpine setting and summer mountain conditions.
Golf Club de Chamonix is an 18-hole course in the Chamonix valley beneath the Mont Blanc massif. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the current 18-hole course in 1982, creating a round where the Alpine setting is central to the experience.
Yes. France is especially suited to mixed-interest trips because golf can sit alongside food, culture, sightseeing and regional travel. Chamonix–Mont-Blanc is a strong current example, with mountain activities and town time around Golf Club de Chamonix.
