Kananaskis works especially well for a trip built around two days of golf and time outdoors. Playing Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette gives the group a different course each day while keeping the same base. Six tee options help accommodate golfers with different abilities, and the river, ponds and mountain walls give the rounds a strong sense of place. After golf, we suggest a meal at Summit Restaurant or an evening back in the village. Couples can add the Nordic Spa, while an extra night creates space for a guided hike or a lake outing. It is a practical choice for travelers who want golf and a mountain vacation in the same itinerary.
Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge is a village base with guest rooms, suites and family accommodations, approximately 10 minutes by car from the golf course. Its Black Diamond Club offers an upgraded stay in a separate building with lounge access and concierge service.
At the golf facility, Summit Restaurant provides clubhouse dining and a patio overlooking the valley, with golf carts and rental clubs available separately. In Kananaskis Village, Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge offers restaurants, fitness facilities and an indoor waterpark. Kananaskis Nordic Spa is a separate adults-only experience with hot and cold pools, saunas and steam rooms; access must be included in your booking or arranged separately.

Fly into Calgary International Airport (YYC), approximately 117 km from Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. Allow roughly 1h 30m–2h by car as a planning estimate, depending on traffic and road conditions, using the Trans-Canada Highway and Highway 40 from the north. A rental car makes golf and sightseeing easier; private airport transfers can also be requested through the lodge’s concierge. The lodge’s own valley shuttle is a separate paid service and does not run to Calgary or Canmore.
Kananaskis Country Golf Course has two 18-hole courses, Mount Kidd and Mount Lorette. We recommend playing both over separate days for a first visit.

Both courses offer six tee options, including shorter forward tees introduced during the restoration. Choose tees by comfortable playing distance so golfers of different abilities can enjoy the same round.
Vehicles parked in the designated pass area generally need a Kananaskis Conservation Pass, including visitors to golf courses and hotels in publicly accessible parking. Check your vehicle’s coverage and exemptions, and register the correct licence plate through Alberta’s official pass service.
Only if the selected offer includes it; a standard room booking should not be assumed to include spa admission. The spa is for adults 18 and older, and hydrotherapy reservations use a selected arrival time.
